When you point a good local business our way, you're helping them get in front of thousands of homes across their community, and you're helping us find the businesses we most want to work with.
Why we offer free advertising
We offer free advertising so a business can assess the quality of enquiries and experience the benefits of more local work – less time on the road, close to home – without any risk.
We don't extend free advertising to every business that's referred. Some aren't the right fit for their community's edition, some are in a category that’s already booked, and some simply aren't ready yet. When we do go ahead, it's because we believe the business is a genuine fit - one that's serious about its long-term success and the kind of local operator we’d refer to our own friends and family.
Free advertising is a real investment on our part, made upfront. We make it because we know Little Aussie works for the right business and they’ll stay an average of 5 years. We’re backing businesses for the long term, not for a single issue - and the relationships that follow are what make it worthwhile for the business, the community, and us.
How it works
- Referrals need to be genuine. You have had a great experience with a business you have used or a great experience with Little Aussie
- The strongest referrals are warm ones - where you've recommended Little Aussie to the business.
- You can refer by using our online referral form, through our competition, or by being named by the business when they get in touch with us.
Referrals through our online referral form
- When you subscribe to our community email newsletter, you will have access to a unique, personal referral link which you can use to send text or email messages to a business
- Don’t spam! You should only send referral messages, using our online referral form, to businesses who you have a relationship with, either as a customer or personal, and genuinely believe they would want to receive them.
- The business is sent a referral link that is unique to you. They must use your referral link to enquire. If the business enquires from another link or enquires independently, your referral is not eligible for reward.
When a reward is paid
- If you're the reason a business makes an enquiry to advertise with Little Aussie, you may be eligible for a reward.
- A reward is paid only once the referred business actually starts advertising with us - from the first magazine issue they appear in. If a business enquires but doesn't go ahead, no reward is paid.
- The reward isn't tied to what the business does after its free period - once they start, the reward is earned.
- Only one reward is paid per business.
- If more than one person refers the same business, the earliest referral we have on record is the one that counts.
When a reward isn’t paid
- If the referred business was already an active lead or opportunity with us in the 12 months before your referral.
- If the referred business was previously advertising with us within 3 years before the referral.
- If the business enquires independently and does not use your personal referral link or include your name in the ‘Referred by’ field of the‘Enquiry Form’
- You need to be on record as the referrer at the time the business starts makes the enquiry - we can't accept claims after the fact.
- Business owners and their relations are not eligible for a reward for referring their own business.
- Recommendations made by commenting on a Facebook post.
- If referral fees are prohibited by industry-specific legislation eg: Health practitioners referring another health service provider,
Who can take part
Residents and current advertisers can refer. Little Aussie staff can't earn rewards.
Good to know
- We don't proceed to free advertising with everybusiness that's referred, and going ahead is always at our discretion.
- We won’t tell you if your referral does not proceed with advertising for privacy reasons.
- Referral rewards are offered at our discretion and thereward can change. The reward, and the program itself, may be changed, paused, or withdrawn at any time. The reward on offer is whatever we've advertised atthe time of your referral.
- Depending on your circumstances, a reward may have tax implications - please seek your own advice.
