Background
Kimberley started her business in March 2024. After completing her training as a tiler, she worked for a construction company and later a regrouting business. She decided to start her own business as she felt she could offer a high level of customer service in the regrouting industry.
The Challenge
She was undertaking some tiling for renovation projects, travelling from Hillary’s to as far as Ellenbrook, Byford and Forrestfield which was a significant daily commute. A quote in Byford would be a three-hour round trip. She wanted to be busier plus she wanted to work closer to home to reduce the amount of travel.
The Solution
Kimberley was doing a job for a customer in Hillarys in April 2024 who showed her the local magazine and suggested she contact Little Aussie as there wasn’t a local tiler.
She contacted Little Aussie and we confirmed availability in the Duncraig and Hillarys community areas for a local tiler, so a one-hour online presentation was scheduled in May 2024.
Kimberley wanted to focus on tile replacement, waterproofing and regrouting, rather than the larger tiling jobs.
Little Aussie determined a good fit, and the four-month free advertising package was booked for the two areas commencing June 2024.
This consisted of a full page in the magazines using the Tiling Category template and a feature post in the That Local Feeling email newsletter, as well as loading content for the Website listing.
A call tracking number was also used and a special offer to local residents of 10% off was chosen.
The Results
The magazines begun delivery in June 2024 and the phone calls started right away as well as some online enquiries from the Little Aussie website. She still remembers the first call with the first few days for a tile replacement and regrouting.
In the first four months Kimberley received 38 unique phone enquiries from local residents, almost all within 10 minutes of where she lived. Whilst there were enquiries for larger tiling jobs, there was an abundance of calls for the smaller tiling jobs to set her up really well.
Kim went on to book the Tiling category on a monthly subscription for both the Duncraig and Hillarys community areas which covers 21,000 homes and 4,200 email subscribers.
As of 17 Nov 2025, she has received 150 unique calls from local residents, 19 online enquiries as well as collecting 8 glowing testimonials using Little Aussie's platform. Her conversion rate is about 95% and all the residents are lovely, offering cups of tea and snacks. Kimberley hasn’t had a bad customer yet.
She now receives 70-80% of all her work from Little Aussie with all the enquiries within 10 minutes of her home. She is able nip out after a job to inspect and quote. Her other work is through word of mouth and referrals although these can be located a little further away. At this stage she hasn’t had a need for a website.
